40. Drayton and Abingdon - UK
Drayton is where we are staying on house sit episode 2.
Our place is the cosy half-house on the right. It's a 3-bedroom house with a decent-sized backyard and being cosy, the steps going upstairs resemble the staircase/ladder hybrid mentioned in the house sit episode 1.
Being a 2 pub, 1 hardware and 1 convenience store town, their priorities seem right. The pubs usually put up signage if they are a 'Freehouse' indicating they are privately owned and not part of a franchise.
Here is our favourite of the pubs. Outside and in.
Pets are allowed in pubs too which is brilliant. You can see the head and nose of the border collie cross just above the table.
Spotted a deer in one of the farmer's fields this morning.
Abingdon is an interesting town. Its situated upstream of the Thames river and boasts the famous bun-throwing ceremony to celebrate royal occasions, and the midsummer election of the mock Mayor of Ock Street in which the town comes alive with Morris dancing.
The medieval park on the banks of the River Thames.

Tasting the local wares...
The town has a surprisingly high population of eastern europeans considering the town's location. We met a few Bulgarians and noticed specialised northern European grocery shops here and there.
It's a wonder some of these roofs don't leak when you see their 'organic' shape. They obviously changed shape over two hundred years or so.
The local Church
What is interesting about this picture is that there 4 individual dwellings here. I don't know how they have done it but each of the houses is so different. Notice how the older house in the middle has such a small doorway.
From here, we travel to dog sit number 3 in Folkstone.
