60. Farnham - House and Pet Sitting - Episode 10

Well, what a wonderful sit this is!

We had an idea the place was going to be nice, but wow! The property is home to a family of 5, a dog, a cat and seventeen sheep. We only had to look after the dog, cat and sheep as the family were going to Canada for a holiday.

                              Sandy & Arthur

Part of the flock

We managed to secure this sit through Adrian, a friend of a friend, to whom the sit was actually given, but didn't want to do on his own. Being a 7-bedroom house on acreage with a heated indoor pool, sauna and tennis court, who wouldn't want to share it? Adrian's a lovely guy with a wicked sense of humour.

Adrian met us at the bus stop and drove Max and the luggage back to the house as the house is quite isolated and is a bit of a walk, especially with luggage. I decided to walk the 2 km distance.

Max and Adrian. I think Max is in her element here!

Given further supplies were required, I was given an opportunity to drive the Merc. Someone's gotta do it.

Walking the dog and checking the sheep daily were the only expectations required of us as well as feeding all the critters, of course. Apart from going into Farnham village twice for supplies, we were more than happy to stay at the property. In addition to seven bedrooms, the house also has 2 living areas, a library, a study, a music room and a 'party room' and thus the three of us had our own 'space' as required.

 My music room.

A beautiful old feature wall.

Mega Kitchen - a cook's dream.

Foyer

Max in her office.

No guesses here.

We all had a couple of games

A view from the back. You can see here that the house was originally two dwellings that were bridged together at a later date.

The Party Room is in a separate shed built in the late 1700's.

The Party Room also had a turning circle for the previous owner's sports cars.

Walking on the property boundary.

Abundant blackberries found on and near the property.

And turned into this...

Sandy was there for moral support.

A creek forms one of the boundaries of the property.

We had the pleasure of Daniel and Ellen's company last weekend.

On a walk, we came across Headley Park Hotel. Note how it's literally on the roadside.

I love the humour, even in 'No Trespassing' signs.

Sandy is a cutie. Our favourite doggo to date!
