126. Palma - Majorca - Spain

We drove for 3 hours from our pet sit in Portugal to Seville Airport, where we dropped Penny off at a long-term car park (the name of the car for people new to the blog) and caught a 1.5-hour flight to the island of Majorca.

The city of Palma is beautiful, having preserved the architecture and atmosphere of the days of old. Streets were narrow, paved, and full of character, and each shop was unique in its character and style.

Thanks to Daniel for organising accommodation for the infamous 5. (Daniel, Ellen, Max, Me and Meredith) The accommodation was only a short walk to the centre of town where there was a feast for the eyes... and stomach!

The detail is incredible. It's hard to believe they could build these places given the tools
and the expertise they had in the 13th century.

The weather played a little havoc with us as at times, we felt we were in Melbourne, as we were given the four seasons in one day. We all took advantage when the weather was kind. This day, the Nunns crew walked up to the Castell de Bellver, where we had a great view overlooking the Palma harbour.

The Nunns Crew

Ellen and Meredith headed back to the UK after a few days and we were then joined by Adam. We were all hoping we could get good weather for the opportunity of having Daniel take us for a flight over Majorca.

I think I prefer the architecture and art of old...

This old grinding mill is owned by the government and leased to a business that runs Spanish cooking classes for tourists. Daniel and Ellen gave this a go and couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Max and I booked in and what an afternoon/evening it was!

Laura (pronounced Low (as in how) ra) was very patient with the group of 8. We had some people from the USA who came separately yet were from the same town, so shutting them up when Laura was trying to explain the art of preparing traditional Spanish food was a challenge... but we got there!

The never-ending supply of wine kept us well lubricated while we all had a turn in making four delicious dishes, including an awesome dessert that resembled a crème brûlée.

The look on Max's face? What did Nigel do???

One evening we will never forget.

Hopefully, we get some nice weather for a flight with Daniel before we fly back to Seville...
